Simply Amazing We stayed in the Rainforest Retreat Deluxe and it was simply amazing. A private high-tech “wee” tree house in the rainforest. Our stay was one of the highlights of our trip. Staff and service were outstanding. The on-site reseraunt was the best in town – try the lamb!

Must Book My husband and I stayed in a Deluxe Tree Lodge, and it was one of our favorite hotels in New Zealand (and we also stayed at Blanket Bay). The staff was so warm and welcoming, and the room was comfortable and well appointed. The kitchenette was fully stocked (including wine), which was a nice treat.

10/10 Amazing experience at the rain forest retreat. The room was incredible. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate myself and my partner. I proposed the my partner in one of the deluxe tree house rooms. The crew set room up whilst we were at the glacier with rose petals and Champaign. I couldn’t recommend these guys more highly.

Top notch, highlight of our trip! Stayed here for 3 nights in June with my husband. We'd booked a Deluxe Tree Hut but were bumped up to a bigger lodge as we were on our honeymoon, which was a lovely touch! The lodge was top notch - spacious, 2 big bedrooms & the cosiest open kitchen + living room combo overlooking the snowy mountains. We felt like we were living in our own home - the kitchen apparatus provided were very decent & usable (unlike many other tiny hotel rooms) so we were able to cook quite a few of our own meals at leisure (very important in a tiny town like FJ). A simple but hearty breakfast basket was delivered fresh every evening for the next morning. We had access to 2 bottles of wine & a very well stocked fridge + fruit basket. But the best feature in the lodge has got to be the massive hot tub in the front porch, which we enjoyed almost everyday (even though it was 3 deg out!) Staff were very friendly & responsive as well, beds were super cosy & warm. We loved that it was very quiet & private as well. Overall top class furnishings & service - very much worth the $. We'd honestly drive all the way to FJ just to stay again. 🙂

WOW NEW CHALETS JUST AMAZING-HOT TUB UNREAL-STAFF EXCEPTIONAL Positive: We loved everything. We arrived at 5pm with 3 grandsons 10, 8 + 4 and the apartment had lights and air con on, hot tub on veranda heating up, so welcoming. We were told we had complimentary items in the fridge which was totally stocked up for the 5 of us including wine. Just before we popped out to dinner at the restaurant, Monsoons within the complex, a delightful chap dropped in this most awesome basket of breakfast items, enough to feed us twice over!!!! Dinner was incredible, the manageress was just divine and accommodating with our 3 grandsons, giving them activity packs and recommending food for them as well. The food was delicious and’happy hour’ well what’happy hour’ it was happy HOURS. The place was packed but meals came out very very quickly and service was impeccable. Would we return, MOST DEFINITLEY in a heartbeat, this resort is amazing & what we liked was the diversity of clientele, from back packers to families to couples…they have managed to cover & please everyone, very well done Rainforest Retreat, WE’LL BE BACK ASAP. Negative: Not 1 thing.

Luxury in wilderness The space wont be enough I have to praise this place. Fully equipped rooms, I mean for that price its unbelievable. They had all amenities, you name it they had it in room. Location was amazing, felt like living in amidst of rain-forest. Nice launderette, restaurants in vicinity with all tours in walking distance. Staff are so helpful explaining all details.

Beautiful tree houses in a lovely surrounding We were SO impressed with our stay at the Rainforest Retreat. We weren’t exactly sure what to expect but the surroundings were beautiful and the tree houses newly renovated. We were delighted to see we got a complimentary upgrade to one of the premium tree houses. We wanted to stay longer! Jess at the desk was really helpful, friendly and kind- she made our stay even nicer. We really enjoyed the restaurant on site too.

Real rainforest tranquil peace with 5-star comfort, heaven ! Stopping at Franz Josef feels like somewhere very special and Rainforest Retreat NEW deluxe treehouse is a special place to create memories. We were blown away right away with the personal, friendly welcome and obvious pride in creating an experience more special than anywhere else I’ve stayed. The level of amenities in each double treehouse is staggering, spacious enough for 4 people and yet each bedroom suite feels remote from everywhere else…connected by a lounge, dining and kitchen which even features an espresso machine..so you don’t have to tear yourself away from the view of the glacier from the deck without leaving your own treehouse. The treehouses easily blend into their native bush surroundings, within a wider village concept of different accommodation options. Thoughtfully, a range of extra comfort touches…heated tile floors in bathroom, sensor floor lighting to avoid that not being able to find the switches, instructions for how to set your expansive window blinds to avoid being woken, a hair-tie in bathroom (so you can sit in spa with your hair up, if you didn’t think of it !). I was very impressed with the provision of “extras”, a basket of fruit and additional breakfast selection so you don’t need to think about missing breakfast, just to enjoy a lay-in in their super comfortable kingsize beds..tip; .this is the best part of the nature experience, after a luxurious spa on the deck until midnight (if you’re lucky with rain falling softly making the rainforest experience really come to life).. Enjoy it with friends travelling together, or for a very special romantic interlude – very good value for the 5-star comfort and generous extras provided. We also ate in the adjacent Monsoon Restaurant and had a fantastic evening, with large roaring fire it’s warmly welcoming and best of all, it’s only a short 3min walk througn beautifully landscaped native tree fern paths. Great menu and wine list – everything you want, service was friendly and laid-back efficient. Would highly recommend, it was an incredible stand-out memory of our West Coast road trip.

Luxury at a great value price! I stayed 3 nights in one of their 2 bedroom tree houses. OMG! Just amazing! Two large bedrooms, each with an ensuite (which even had a volume button so you could have stereo sound in the shower -excellent!) And a lovely spacious lounge and full kitchen. Absolutely loved the spa pool on the deck with the native bush around me. The price included some wine and a great continental breakfast hamper every morning. Can sleep 2 couples. I could see snowy mountains from my bed. Would give it 5+ stars of I could. Will definitely be going back!
