In the town of Franz Josef on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island is a treasure waiting to be discovered by any jaded traveler. In a natural bush setting, literally metres from the town, is the Rainforest Retreat: A New Zealand jewel amongst this wonderland at the base of the Franz Josef Glacier. For my wife and I, both New Zealanders who have seen almost all of our magnificent country, this recommendation is simple: the well-priced Rainforest Retreat should be considered a national treasure. We started with a warm welcome from Becky, Jess, and Sinead, and, after that, everything about our stay was a comfortable pleasure.
