Stopping at Franz Josef feels like somewhere very special and Rainforest Retreat NEW deluxe treehouse is a special place to create memories. We were blown away right away with the personal, friendly welcome and obvious pride in creating an experience more special than anywhere else I’ve stayed. The level of amenities in each double treehouse is staggering, spacious enough for 4 people and yet each bedroom suite feels remote from everywhere else…connected by a lounge, dining and kitchen which even features an espresso machine..so you don’t have to tear yourself away from the view of the glacier from the deck without leaving your own treehouse. The treehouses easily blend into their native bush surroundings, within a wider village concept of different accommodation options. Thoughtfully, a range of extra comfort touches…heated tile floors in bathroom, sensor floor lighting to avoid that not being able to find the switches, instructions for how to set your expansive window blinds to avoid being woken, a hair-tie in bathroom (so you can sit in spa with your hair up, if you didn’t think of it !). I was very impressed with the provision of “extras”, a basket of fruit and additional breakfast selection so you don’t need to think about missing breakfast, just to enjoy a lay-in in their super comfortable kingsize beds..tip; .this is the best part of the nature experience, after a luxurious spa on the deck until midnight (if you’re lucky with rain falling softly making the rainforest experience really come to life).. Enjoy it with friends travelling together, or for a very special romantic interlude – very good value for the 5-star comfort and generous extras provided. We also ate in the adjacent Monsoon Restaurant and had a fantastic evening, with large roaring fire it’s warmly welcoming and best of all, it’s only a short 3min walk througn beautifully landscaped native tree fern paths. Great menu and wine list – everything you want, service was friendly and laid-back efficient. Would highly recommend, it was an incredible stand-out memory of our West Coast road trip.
