Spent 2 nights at The Rainforest Retread en route to Wanaka. The location is superb – 5 min to all the eateries, 3 min to the glacier hike base and Glacier Hot Springs. There is also a great bar/restaurant on premises that does all you can eat pizza nights for $20 on weekends. As a bonus, there is also a sauna and hot pools for stay in house guests. The retreat has a huge range of accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets: – camp sites; – back and flash packer hostel; – immaculate motel rooms (I stayed at a small double and it was terrific); – tree houses and luxury chalets Staff at the reception were super friendly and the atmosphere at night when guests gather at the bar was lively.
