The Rainforest Retreat was a welcome oasis after a long drive through the Haast Pass. We got a Tree Lodge with Continental Breakfast (#5). Some of the Tree Lodges are elevated and some are on the ground level which ours was. The grounds and buildings have a unique character with lots of green areas and winding paths. Our unit was surrounded by a lovely forest with ferns just off our outdoor patio with table and chairs to enjoy the birds chirping. We parked our car right in front of our unit and could see walking trails around the grounds. The room is spacious with a king bed and smaller single and nice size bathroom. There is a small kitchenette with all the facilities, refrigerator, utensils, glasses and dishes needed to cook a meal or bring back food. There is a small sunroom where our dining table was located where we could sit and enjoy our breakfast. Breakfast is delivered the night before with a variety of items to choose from including oatmeal, cereal, milk, fruit and other items. There is also coffee or tea to enjoy. The location is within easy walking distance of the town. Loved the unique character of the property and would stay there again.
